Hope everybody has had a lovely half term/weekend. I'm looking forward to hearing all the children's news and stories.
For our first week back, Reception will be concentrating on the concept of "one more and one less" Children will be learning to find one more or one less from a group of up to 10 objects and also being able to say the number that is one more/one less from a given number.
We will be using objects to help represent the numbers so children can visualise what it means when we add one more or take one away as well as looking at number lines to help them. If you would like to practise these ideas at home this week it will help strengthen your child's understanding.
Children can count out objects at home, then ask them how many will they have if one more is added/if one is taken away. (Try using fruit/sweets to really engage them, as one less means they can eat one and one more means they can have extra!!)
See you all on Monday :-)
