On Friday afternoon we went on a nature walk again to look at the changes in our environment. We enjoyed the mud!!
Phonics
We continued with instrumental sounds. The children were experiencing and developing an awareness of sounds made with instruments and noise makers. We also listened to the difference between sounds made with instruments.
Here are two activities you could do at home to support your child's learning:
Talking about sounds
made by instruments
Visit the local library
Visit your local library and ask the
librarian if they have the following books:
·The
old lady that swallowed a fly
·The
three Billy Goats Gruff
·What’s
the time Mr Wolf?
·The
Very Noisy Night
·The
Animal Boogie
·Non
fiction books about musical instruments
Finding objects that
make a noise
Get your
child to look indoors and outdoors for objects that make a noise. You
could make a list together or they could collect them in a carrier bag or
basket.
You could take pictures of these on a
mobile or digital camera and print them. This will help your child to talk
about the sounds they have heard.
Look, listen and note if
your child can:
•
choose the right words to
describe the sounds they hear (e.g. loud, fierce,
rough,
squeaky, etc)
- talk about what they think about the sounds have heard
Maths
We have been learning the numerals 2 and 3. Please look at Mrs Foster's post earlier on in the year for the rhymes that help the children with formation.
0 and 9 this week!
